Simple Ways to Significantly Reduce Your Inflatable Hot Tub Energy Costs

Summer is on the horizon, so now is the perfect time to spruce up your outdoor space and prepare for those relaxing bubbly massages in your CleverSpa Inflatable Hot Tub.

With energy bills on the up, it is understandable you may think running an inflatable Hot Tub may no longer be affordable, but thanks to the award winning CleverSpa Inflatable Hot Tubs & Accessories, you can rest easy.

Floor Mats

As we all know, the key to energy efficiency is insulation, and heat retention. That applies to every aspect of your hot tub, the base, the walls and the top, so first things first, place your Hot Tub on a smooth even surface and lay some insulation mats, that will not only prevent the base of your Hot Tub becoming cold from any drop in the ground temperature, but it will also reduce the chances of punctures.

CleverSpa offer a range of floor mats in both round and square shapes, so there’s something for any brand of Hot Tub.

Inflatable Cover Support

All CleverSpa Hot Tubs are built to the highest standards, so the walls of your Tub are insulated to effectively maintain the water’s temperature. However, when you’re not soaking up those lovely bubbles, the next accessory you should seriously consider is an inflatable cover support. Available in both round and square, these ingenious products act as a lid to prevent the heat from escaping. The addition of the cover support adds extra insulation and prevents rainwater from pooling on the top of the inflatable Tub when not in use.

Wrap Up Warm With A Thermal Jacket

The ’icing on the cake’ for the ultimate heat retention and biggest reduction of energy use is the double award winning CleverSpa Thermal Jacket! You can reduce your Inflatable Hot Tub running costs by up to 50% with this product alone.

This Thermal Cover cocoons your Hot Tub when you’re not using it and significantly reduces heat loss. Even if energy bills weren’t on the rise, you would be mad not to invest in such an ingenious innovation. It is a universal product, so will fit almost any brand of inflatable Hot Tub, (including Lay-Z-Spa and Wave) even models with external motors, thanks to a clever ‘mousehole’ zip opening, that accommodates the pipework. As well as providing thermal insulation it is also waterproof, protecting it from the elements.

TOP TIP…. Remember not to situate your Hot Tub in direct sunlight as the UV Exposure will over time damage the Thermal Cover’s waterproof properties.

“Have got it last week it’s brilliant”

“I got this and bought thermal wrap as well and omg saving so much money with it”

Ajl Savage, 30 April 2022

TOP TIP… Fill your Hot Tub with warm water up to the minimum level, so the heater isn’t having to work so hard, and it doesn’t take as long to reach your preferred temperature. You will also be saving on water consumption, without impacting on your Hot Tub experience.

All the Inflatable CleverSpa Hot Tubs also come with a Freezeguard feature, which when activated, ensures your Hot Tub never dips below 5 degrees. A useful feature in the Winter months, but not something you need to worry about at this time of year.

Location, Location, Location

Having invested in all the energy saving accessories, there are other considerations you should bear in mind, such as the location of your Inflatable Hot Tub. If you are lucky enough to have a large outdoor space or garden you may want to consider creating a dedicated chill out zone, with a windbreak, such as a wall or fence to prevent wind chill. By covering your Hot Tub, you will extend its life, direct sunlight can potentially damage the seams due to the air expanding within the walls when it heats up.

However, if you have a more modest space, why not consider the recently launched CleverSpa shelter? Equipped with adjustable window blinds, useful storage, ventilation and the cutest, lights around the doors, it offers the perfect protection from any chilly breezes and provides privacy from any curious neighbours. It can also be used for other outdoor activities, such as fishing, trips to the beach or simply camping. A great all-round investment, that will also help to reduce your Hot Tub energy costs.

Keep Your Tub in Tip Top Condition

Like any functional product, if you don’t look after it and keep it in good working order, it won’t thank you for it. Filters and chemicals are not the most exciting part of owning a CleverSpa Inflatable Hot Tub, but they are necessary, to keep your tub running at its most efficient. Skipping your filter replacement and not maintaining the pH balance of the water will only lead to higher energy use and potentially motor problems. The last thing you need is a fault to occur just when you’re ready for a relaxing dip. Why not set yourself a monthly reminder, then you can relax, safe in the knowledge you’re simultaneously looking after your energy bill and Hot Tub in the best way possible.

New and Improved Clever Link App

If you have one of the CleverSpa Hot Tubs that have the CleverLink App, we have a great new feature, that will also help you reduce your Hot Tub running costs.

Simply select the timer function to set the time and length of time you would like the heater to run for. In addition, the scheduler gives you the freedom to set the temperature, as well as the date and time, even when you’re away from home.
